CTF-52/MCMRON FIVE oversees all surface, air, and underwater mine countermeasures assets in the U.S. FIFTH Fleet AOR, including: U.S. Avenger mine countermeasures ships, U.K. Hunt and Sandown mine hunters (when assigned), HM-15 MH-53E helicopters, unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) divers. CTF-52/MCMRON FIVE participates in numerous mine countermeasures exercises with its partner nations throughout the U.S. FIFTH Fleet Area of Operations. CTF 52/MCMRON FIVE is to strengthen national and coalition mine warfare capabilities and capacity in order to promote a secure maritime environment in the Coalition Area of Operation. On order, CTF 52/MCMRON FIVE will execute mine warfare operations in order to advance Combined Force Maritime Component Commander operational objectives of maintaining or reestablishing unencumbered freedom of maneuver and assuring access to critical maritime infrastructure.
