افتتاح الندوة الختامية لمشروع "الكائنات الغازية في بحر روبمي"
افتتحت اليوم بالعاصمة العمانية مسقط الندوة العلمية الختامية للمرحلة الأولى من مشروع الكائنات البحرية الغازية في المنطقة البحرية للمنظمة (بحر روبمي)، بحضور سعادة الدكتور عبدالله بن علي العمري رئيس هيئة البيئة في سلطنة عمان، وسعادة الأمين التنفيذي للمنظمة الدكتور محمد داود الأحمد. حملت الندوة عنوان "تحديد مخاطر الكائنات البحرية الدخيلة والأنواع الغازية والأنواع مجهولة المنشأ والأنواع المستجدة في المنطقة البحرية للمنظمة الإقليمية لحماية البيئة البحرية"، ألقى خلالها الدكتور العمري كلمة أثنى فيها على الجهود الإقليمية المبذولة في هذا الموضوع الهام مؤكداً على أهمية تقييم تأثيراتها على الأمن البحري الإحيائي.
كما أشار الأمين التنفيذي للمنظمة في كلمته إلى حجم التحديات البيئية التي تواجهها المنطقة بسبب انتشار الكائنات البحرية الغازية، موضحاً أبرز البيانات التي أثمر عنها المشروع، ومعلناً عن إطلاق المرحلة الثانية قريباً.
Opening of the Symposium on “Invasive Species in the ROPME Sea Area”
The scientific closing symposium of Phase I of the Non-Native Invasive Species in the ROPME Sea Area Project was inaugurated today in Muscat, Oman, with the presence of H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, President of the Environment Authority and H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Ahmad, Executive Secretary of ROPME.
The symposium, entitled “Risk Identification of Non-Native, Nuisance, Cryptogenic, and Neonative Species in the ROPME Sea Area,” included a keynote address by Dr. Al Amri. In his remarks, he commended the regional efforts undertaken in this critical field and emphasized the importance of assessing the impacts of invasive species on marine biosecurity. In his opening address, the Executive Secretary of ROPME highlighted the growing environmental challenges faced by the region as a result of the spread of invasive marine species and presented key data and findings generated through the project. He further noted that ROPME will shortly launch the second and third phases of the project, which are expected to continue until the end of 2030.
