Information Commissioner's Office for Bermuda

Information Commissioner's Office for Bermuda The Information Commissioner’s Office is an independent public office that promotes and oversees the use of the Public Access To Information Act.

The Information Commissioner’s Office is an independent, public office that promotes and oversees the use of the PATI Act in three ways. Public Awareness: promoting the public’s awareness of their rights under the Act

Guidance and Oversight: providing general guidance about and oversight of public authorities’ responsibilities under the Act

Appeals: hear, investigate and rule on requesters’ appe

als from public authorities’ decisions about requests for access to records

An important part of the ICO’s job is to hear appeals from requesters who disagree with a public authority’s decision on their request. To do this job, the ICO must remain independent of political parties, the Government and any other bias. The ICO is committed to making decision based upon a fair, independent and responsible application of the PATI Act. To learn more about our work and who we are, or to learn how to file a PATI request, visit our website: www.ico.bm
