Some fishing days are measured in fish. Others are measured in moments.

Across Sécure, Agua Negra, and Pluma, Week 9 brought the full pulse of Tsimane: powerful dorado, unexpected encounters, clear water, overnight stories around camp, and the wild presence of the jungle at every turn.

From double hookups and a 20-pound dorado to pacú on a dead drift, tapirs moving through the forest, and jaguars along the riverbanks, this is a place where the fishing is only part of the story.

Some places remain wild because they’ve been cared for long before anyone came to fish them.

At Tsimane, we work in Indigenous territory alongside the Tsimane, Yuracaré, and Moxeño-Trinitario. Whose ancestral knowledge of the forest and rivers is an essential part of this project.

Some of the most important lessons we’ve learned about these rivers were never written in a guidebook. They have been passed down through generations of indigenous people.

Today, we recognize the Indigenous communities whose knowledge, stewardship, and connection to the land continue to protect these landscapes for future generations.

Heavy rain reshaped the rivers overnight, but as the water settled, the fishing only got better.
From explosive dorado feeding frenzies and visual eats to giant pacú and an unforgettable jaguar sighting, every lodge had its own story to tell.
