Dear Students, Parents, and Faculty Members,
We are only two months into our middle school student council and we have many things planned already! Since we only have one semester to make an impact on the middle school we are trying to maximize our time to the fullest. Our goal for this semester is to raise R$1000. To raise this money we have organized some fundraisers. We have had a pizza sale and a cookie sale already and have raised R$400 in only two weeks!
Additionally, we have decided to create a Spirit Week! During this week, people dress up in certain outfits on certain days. It will be the week before Little 8 and it is R$5 for the whole week. It will be a fun way to get excited about the Little 8 tournament!
With this money we would like to create an area in the middle school for games and activities for the students to use at lunch time. The middle school does not have anything like this and we think it would be an enjoyable place for the students to have. We would like to have a ping pong table, foosball table, and board games. The students would be able to have unlimited access throughout the lunch time and after school.
Continuing on, two of our student council members have visited the Casa de Moises Orphanage. They had the time to interact and play with the children. While they were there, they noticed that one of the orphanage's refrigerators had broken and they had to squeeze all the food for all the children into only one. Student Council would like to make this our intention to donate another refrigerator to the orphanage with the money we get from the fundraisers. We think that it is something that the orphanage could really benefit from.
In addition, we have made Facebook groups for all the grades in which we write information about STUCO, events that will be happening, and homework assignments. It is a forum where students can ask questions and their peers can answer. Similarly, the Student Council Officers will try to update their homework assignments everyday to keep the students aware of what assignments are needed.
Finally, we have created suggestion boxes that are in the Advisory classes in which students and anyone who else would like to can write down suggestions for the student council. This semester we would really like to maximize our time and benefit the school and our community as best as we can by reaching our goal and with your help we can do that.
