MEDAL AWARDS: Namibia's Defence Attaché, Captain Efraim Shivanda was honoured with a Santos Dumont Merit Award, at the Military Ceremony Commemorating the 153rd Anniversary of the Birth of Santos-Dumont, which took place on 14 July 2026, in Brasilia, Brazil. The award was in recognition of the distinguished role he played in promoting the Defence Cooperation between the Republic of Namibia and the Federative Republic of Brazil.

ENERGY SUMMIT 2026: At the third edition of the Energy Summit 2026, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 23 to 25 June 2026, H.E. Selma Nghinamundova participated on the panel discussion under the theme "Energy as a Vector for Development", where she reflected on the centrality of energy in advancing industrialization, economic transformation and sustainable development across the African continent.

Held in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT), the Energy Summit has established itself as the leading global event for innovation and entrepreneurship in energy and sustainability.

Namibia will assume the Presidency of the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) for the Period 2028-2030, after Brazil’s term which ends in 2028. The announcement was made at the INBO World Summit 2026 which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 16 to 19 June 2026. Namibia submitted her candidacy alongside Egypt, Senegal and Uzbekistan.

In her acceptance remarks, Ambassador Selma Nghinamundova said Namibia's Presidency to INBO will highlight the country's priorities on: Strengthening hydro-diplomacy and equitable benefit-sharing in transboundary basins; Unlocking climatic resilience infrastructure investment; optimizing the Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystem Nexus; and Leveraging the next generation technology. It will also serve as an opportunity to share challenges and seek practical , scalable solutions for climatic-vulnerable regions.

Today, a delegation from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs led by Air Marshal Martin Kambulu Pinehas, Chief of the Namibian Defence Force paid a Courtesy Call on Ambassador Selma Nghinamundova.

The Delegation is on an Official Mission in the Federative Republic of Brazil, to intensify Military Cooperation between the two countries. The Naval Cooperation is one of the flagship projects between the Republic of Namibia and the Federative Republic of Brazil.

In her capacity as a Vice Chair of the Economic Committee of the African Group of Ambassadors in Brazil, Ambassador Selma Nghinamundova hosted a Networking Event on 5 May 2026, which brought together Dr. Pedro Ribeiro Barbosa, President of the Institute of Molecular Biology (IBMP) and his team from the State of Paraná with the African Ambassadors in Brazil.

The event focused on strategic partnership in the areas of Health, Research and Innovation. With a strong presence in Latin America and Eupope, IBMP collaborates with Fiocruz and the Brazilian Federal Government, on various projects, focusing on biomedical research and technological development. During the event these partnership were presented to African diplomats with a view of expanding cooperation in the African Continent.

H.E. Selma Nghinamundova welcomed Ambassador Emilia Mkusa, Secretary to Cabinet in Brazil. Ambassador Mkusa alongside representatives from 10 governments in the African Continent, are participating at the Heads of Public Service and Board Members Learning Journey, facilitated by the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI), which is currently taking place across three States in Brazil (Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro).

The initiative aimed at exchanging experiences in public policies and sharing best practices in various strategic sectors.
