Em 1997, Albin Johnson criou o 501st Legion, um grupo baseado na Internet para os fãs de Star Wars, descrevendo-se como a elite da unidade imperial de Darth Vader, "Vader Fist". Em 17 anos, Albin ajudou o grupo a crescer para mais de 10.000 membros em todo o mundo em mais de 48 países. O 501 apareceu em novelas de Star Wars, jogos, quadrinhos, brinquedos, desenhos animados e até no Episódio III. Após a perda de sua filha, Katie, para o câncer em 2005, Albin e o R2 Builders Club criaram o R2-KT, um dróide astromecânico rosa, para difundir a conscientização sobre doenças pediátricas. Juntos, o 501º e o R2-KT já arrecadaram milhões para caridade e trabalharam com a comunidade Star Wars para fazer a diferença no mundo.
