Marco City FNM

Marco City FNM The FNM is the party of honesty and integrity, vision and commitment, fairness and inclusion. They separated themselves and adopted “FREE” as their motto.

The Free National Movement was born out of a struggle for greater accountability and transparency. The party cut its teeth in the fight to deliver our country from political corruption and victimization, and it reached maturity as a government whose tenure and accomplishments have become the standard against which all future governments of The Bahamas will be judged. Over 40 years ago, the founder

s of the FNM had the wisdom and foresight to recognize the absence of truly democratic principles within the leadership of the then-governing party. These ‘Dissident Eight’ held themselves to the highest standard, one fuelled by a love of their country and a commitment to serve all Bahamians fairly and equitably. Today, the nation — and the world — continue to hold the FNM in the highest regard. The Free National Movement is proud of this mantle. FNM Leaders have been great figures in Bahamian history, men and women of character, honour, and ethics who abhor corruption and detest victimization.

Michael Pintard speaking to the students, teachers and staff at Bishop Michael Eldon on Monday 6th March 2017 at their special Assembly addressing the subject Bahamian Culture.

Mr. Pintard delivered an entertaining yet insightful presentation on Bahamian culture and sought to inspire his audience to shape the culture for the betterment our people. Among the points he delivered were the following:

1. We must celebrate our culture and the contributions we have made to the world In various areas.

2. He reminded his audience that we are a product of Africa and Europe colliding and creating a new people who have been influenced principally by Jamaica, America and Haiti.

3. He advocated that our students should embrace the best of our neighbors and reject the worst of them as we seek to be ourselves and carve out our place on this planet.

4. He admonished his audience to love themselves and be proud of who they are.

5. In this huge world we matter. We should strive to be better than who we were yesterday. Today when you look in the mirror you see a snapshot... when u take a selfie you are looking at a snapshot of you. One month from now if you take the exact selfie wearing the same outfit in the same location you will look different. Culture is like that. You can't fully predict it but you can set some goals in terms of what you want to become and accomplish

6. Culture according to Pintard is the things we do, in the ways we do them that define us.

7. He pointed out different dimensions of our culture. One expression of culture is our language. Pintard contends that we speak Bahamianese; it's important to know it as well as "standard English"

8. Furthermore our food is another expression of our culture

9. Our culture is expressed in music, dance, Junkanoo, theatre, fashion, cuisine, etc

10. Cultural norms should not handicap your ability to meet international standards.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM MICHAEL C. PINTARD

Neither I or my team in Marco City and by extension the Free National Movement produced, commissioned or endorsed the fliers entitled Marco City Needs Mike Pintard.

On Saturday night it was brought to my attention that fliers were circulating endorsing me for Marco City while launching attacks on several public figures. I read the flier sent to me and then proceeded to signed into the face book page identified at the bottom of the flier and read one more. I immediately became concerned and bothered on several levels.

1. While our MC team believes that I’m the best option for Marco City at this time we are not arrogant enough to believe that this long established constituency which has had numerous effective MPs (including Pleasant Bridgewater) NEEDS me. I would, no doubt, be an asset to the community but I am not its savior. The Magic will return to Freeport as we work in partnership with other stakeholders to dramatically improve the condition of our people who are suffering now. I will lead a coalition of citizens and agencies to revitalize Marco City. No one man, or Party can do it alone. I’m grateful for the confidence the writer of the article placed in me(if it is genuine) but I prefer to be measured in what is promised not unrealistic and dishonest as the PLP was when seeking support in 2012.
2. Secondly, our campaign in Marco City is not focused on attacking active and retired politicians, even if some of them are continuing to savage me and lie on me. We are focused on our hurricane relief efforts, helping residents save their homes from repossession, pursuing employment for the unemployed, organizing community programs for young people and attracting residents who are interested in Back Yard farming. We are on the ground going door to door to share what the FNM and my team would bring to the community. I fear no one except God but at this moment my focus is on getting to know residents and enabling them to get to know me. There will be time for blows to be thrown.
3. I’m grateful for the defense the article provided for me against PLP lies, smear and spin but find it odd that the producer(s) would do so using my picture while launching attacks on one PLP after another as if I’m a one man army and that I sanction such an approach. The owners of wecarebahamas may be friend rather than foe therefore I humbly request that you discontinue using my name and image alongside your continuous attacks. The PLP has so many failings and the FNM has so many powerful proposals that you will have no shortage of important issues to highlight showing why the PLP must go. I would gladly assist you in adjusting your approach and message as we seek to improve the lives of our people.
I wish to assure residents of Marco City that my singular focus is working with you to create the environment where our families can thrive and enjoy wholesome and prosperous lives. Hard work, partnerships and God will get us there.

Marco City Back To School Basketball Tournament Scores

Freeport, GB, Bahamas Saturday 17th September 2016- Marco City Youth teamed up with The Marco City FNM Association to stage a back to school basketball tournament. The event was designed to create camaraderie among the youth and provide a positive outlet for young people to recreate. Residents had a chance to observe and enjoy the games and each other's company.

The organizing committee led by Mr Vance Barr and Kendal Culmer benefitted tremendously from collaborating with Mr. Dudley Seide of Reach Out Youth Organization (ROYO). Mr. Michael Pintard and the Marco City FNM team provided the resources and personnel required to stage the exciting event which drew scores of young people participating and watching. The tournament was competitive and thoroughly enjoyable.

Mr Seide welcomed participants and Mr Pintard spoke to competitors about opportunities sports opens up for young athletes and the importance of being academically sound to take advantage of any scholarship opportunities that may arise. He also emphasized the role sports play in developing discipline and how important it is to carefully prepare if one was going to succeed at the game on the court or in life. Against the back drop of the frequent violence in various communities the take away quote he left with the young men and women was "turn to each other, not on each other."

Persons came from various constituencies to participate. Great conversations were had over refreshments that were prepared for everyone who turned out. Even visiting Torchbearers from Nassau got on the grill and helped out. The tournament series will run for the next four weeks on various parks throughout the constituency.

ROYO teams won both the junior and senior divisions. Trophies were presented at the end of the competition. Next week more activities will be added to the tournament and prizes given out to athletes and spectators.
