• ⛈️ Unsettled conditions will continue this evening through tonight as abundant tropical moisture and a persistent upper-level disturbance remain across the area.

• ⛈️ A low- to mid-level disturbance is expected to move northeastward across the Northern and Northwest Bahamas Wednesday, increasing shower and thunderstorm activity through Thursday.

• ⚠️ A moderate to high risk for isolated strong to severe thunderstorms exists across portions of the Northern and Northwest Bahamas beginning late this evening through tonight.

• 🌧️ Moderate to high flooding risk exists in low-lying and flood-prone areas during heavy and prolonged rainfall.

• 🌧️ A moist and unstable airmass will persist through the end of the week, with showers and thunderstorms mainly across the Northern, Northwest and Central Bahamas.

• 🌬️ A cold front is forecast to enter the Northern Bahamas late Thursday and gradually move southeastward, with a drier and more stable airmass filtering into the northern islands by the weekend.

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning update for Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 4:30 PM EDT until 6:00 PM EDT.

📍 WARNING AREA:
West and Central Grand Bahama, including the adjacent northern waters and cays.

🌩️ AT 4:20 PM EDT:
Observation, radar and satellite imagery depicted an intensifying line of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms moving northeasterly across the warning areas.

These showers and thunderstorms are associated with ample tropical moisture interacting with an upper-level low north of the Bahamas.

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER THREATS:
• Strong, gusty winds
• Dangerous lightning
• Heavy downpours
• Hail
• Possible waterspout or tornadic activity

Seek safe harbour if conditions worsen.
