This past week, the Elbow Reef Lighthouse Society turned its focus to the next generation. Members had the pleasure of visiting three of Abaco's cherished schools — Lifeway Academy, St. Francis de Sales, and Central Abaco Primary — to share the rich history and enduring importance of the Elbow Reef Lighthouse with Grade 5 students.

Through engaging presentations by Santana Fox, ERLS office manager, young learners and their teachers discovered how this beloved lighthouse functions with its keepers, and why the community's role in preserving it matters now more than ever. The Society left each classroom inspired by the students' curiosity and enthusiasm — a reminder that the lighthouse's story is very much alive in the hearts of those who will carry it forward.

What a Valentine's Day! Two incredible nonprofits. Two big missions. One community making it happen.

The Elbow Reef Lighthouse Society and Abaco Shelter came together for a special open house at the historic Hope Town lighthouse — and it was a day full of history, heart, and puppy kisses! Guests explored the world's ONLY remaining non-automated lighthouse of its kind while meeting some adorable Royal Bahamian Potcakes — and two lucky pups found their forever homes on the spot!

This partnership continues with the Lighthouse Society's 2026 collector's ornament, which will feature the iconic lighthouse alongside a Royal Bahamian Potcake. Proceeds support both organizations — preserving a one-of-a-kind piece of maritime history AND giving rescued dogs the care they deserve.
