Today, the Insurance Commission of The Bahamas welcomed officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force to Silk Cotton House for a comprehensive Insurance Awareness, Compliance and Enforcement Training Session. Led by the Superintendent of Insurance, Mrs. Dana L. Munnings-Gray and members of the Commission's management team and subject matter experts, the training provided valuable insights into the role of insurance within the Bahamian economy, insurance regulation, market conduct, compliance oversight, enforcement powers, insurance fraud detection, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements, and the legal framework governing the insurance sector.
The session also highlighted the critical partnership between regulators and law enforcement in protecting consumers, detecting and preventing fraudulent activity, preserving public confidence, and upholding the integrity of The Bahamas' financial services sector. Through practical case studies, interactive discussions, and knowledge sharing, participants explored the important connection between insurance regulation and policing, reaffirming a shared commitment to accountability, collaboration, and public protection. The Insurance Commission extends its sincere appreciation to the Royal Bahamas Police Force for their engagement and looks forward to continuing this important partnership.
