The Department of Gender and Family Affairs was established to coordinate, advocate and inform policy for and on behalf of women and girls, men and boys as well as the family unit. The Department of Gender and Family Affairs expands the scope of the work previously executed by the Bureau of Women’s Affairs. This expansion will ensure a more inclusive and comprehensive approach to tackling social c

hallenges and human rights concerns while creating programmes to raise awareness and address education, training, employment and social justice as it relates to both women and men. Additionally, the Department’s aim is to strengthen the family as the fundamental nucleus of society thereby generally improving the quality of life for communities throughout The Bahamas.
