The Free National Movement

The Free National Movement The FNM was founded in 1971 to provide competent, caring and honest governance for all Bahamians.

The Free National Movement emerged from a struggle for increased accountability and transparency. The party initially fought against political corruption and victimization, eventually evolving into a government that set a standard for future administrations in The Bahamas. More than 40 years ago, the visionary founders of the FNM recognized the lack of democratic principles within the ruling party

at the time. They distinguished themselves by adopting the motto "FREE" and committed themselves to uphold the highest standards of service, driven by their love for the country and a dedication to fair and equitable representation for all Bahamians. Today, the FNM continues to be held in high regard, both nationally and internationally. The party takes pride in its reputation and its history, with past FNM leaders being revered as figures of great character, honor, and ethical standards, vehemently opposing corruption and victimization. The Free National Movement stands as a party that values honesty, integrity, vision, commitment, fairness, and inclusion.

We are not the official agreers, cooperators, compliers, complementors, or comforters.

We are the Official Opposition, and we will oppose when necessary.

We will oppose where we see corruption, mismanagement, incompetence, inefficiency, irregularities, inaccuracies, or ineffectiveness.

It is this role that should compel the Government to do better, to do more, and to do right.

So, put your big boys and girls’ pants on, and let’s get to the job.
