Executive Chairman the Hon. Jamahl Strachan has launched a pilot program in response to the recent influx of seaweed along our Shores.

Following the significant buildup at Montagu Beach our team was on site putting the response plan into action to clear the area and manage the high volume of seaweed. As part of the pilot, local business owner, Ralph Burrows will repurpose the collected sargassum, adding a practical and sustainable dimension to the Authority’s approach while establishing a model that can be applied to similar occurrences moving forward.

Ahead of the new school year, The Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority brought together school vendors from across New Providence for its first ever School Vendors Meeting.

Led by Senior Operations Director Samantha Anderson, the session focused on ensuring vendors are prepared and understand the standards and procedures expected of them as they return to schools for the new academic year.

On Friday 21st of August, 2026, Executive Chairman of The Bahamas Public Parks & Public Beaches Authority, the Hon. Jamahl Strachan, M.P.; joined executives of The Authority in visiting All Saints Camp where backpacks filled with school supplies and snack bags were distributed to the children. Snack bags were also provided for staff of The Authority to contribute to their preparation of a successful school year.

The initiative is reflective of Chairman Strachan's leadership and his commitment to ensuring that The Authority remains present and responsive to the people it serves while also fostering a culture of care and appreciation among its staff.

The Authority continues to embrace a broader vision of service; one that recognizes that strong communities are built through investment in people and meaningful engagement. This is one of many initiatives being undertaken at The Authority, reinforcing “We do more than cut grass”.
