The ongoing development of the Abaco Hybrid Power Plant marks an important investment in strengthening the island’s energy infrastructure and advancing more reliable, resilient and sustainable power solutions for the community.

As part of continued efforts to modernise The Bahamas’ energy sector, the project is designed to support Abaco’s growing energy needs while helping to build greater resilience into the island’s power system. 🔋☀️⚡️

Yesterday, Prime Minister the Hon. Philip Davis and Minister of Energy, Utilities and Aviation the Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis toured the development site to view the progress firsthand and see the work underway to bring this important project to fruition.

The signing of the amended MOU between the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Aviation and Middle Tennessee State University, alongside Dr. Sidney McPhee, is a significant step forward for The Bahamas.

This partnership expands access to world-class aviation education and training, creating pathways for Bahamians to develop critical skills and build careers in an industry essential to our nation’s future.

The Minister of Energy, Utilities and Aviation visited the Aeronautical School at Middle Tennessee State University alongside the Chairman, President, and Trustees of the University of The Bahamas.

The Minister signed an amended Memorandum of Understanding with MTSU aimed at strengthening collaboration and expanding the aviation sector. The tour provided the Minister’s delegation with valuable insight into opportunities in aviation education and training.

It was a particular honor to meet with Dr. Sidney McPhee, share the vision for Aviation, and connect with Bahamian students pursuing their studies and developing careers in this vital field. Among them was Emmanuel, a former recipient of the 2023 Elizabeth Top Achiever Award—a proud testament to the talent, ambition, and potential of Bahamian youth.

The visit also brought together executives from the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Aviation, Airport Authority and University of The Bahamas, creating an important opportunity to deepen relationships, explore new possibilities, and celebrate the accomplishments of Bahamians abroad.

An impactful visit marked by learning, inspiration, and meaningful connections. 🇧🇸✈️

Yesterday, Minister Coleby-Davis and Consultant Anastarcia Palacious hosted a joint meeting with the executives of the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Aviation under the theme, “Leadership, Culture, and Organizational Excellence Initiative.”

The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration across the Ministry, align teams around shared priorities, and shape new plans and initiatives for the work ahead. It was also a time to reflect on how we can continue building a culture of excellence, strengthening leadership at every level, and improving the way we work together.

As we look to the future, our focus remains firmly on innovation, collaboration, accountability, and delivering meaningful results for the people of The Bahamas.

Together, we are building a stronger, more effective organization—one that is equipped to meet today’s challenges and embrace tomorrow’s opportunities. 🇧🇸
