Remembering Hurricane Dorian | 7 Years Later π§πΈ
Today, we remember September 1, 2019, the day Hurricane Dorian forever changed our nation. We remember the lives that were lost and the families whose lives were never the same. The devastation across Abaco and Grand Bahama was unimaginable, and for so many, those memories remain deeply personal. As someone who grew up in Grand Bahama and also have deep familial ties to Abaco, remembering the suffering of my people is never easy. These are not just stories, these are our people, our families, our communities, and our home.
To every survivor, we see you, we honour you, and we stand with you. Seven years later, may we continue to support those still rebuilding, cherish the memories of those we lost, and never forget the strength that carried our people through one of the darkest moments in our history. Let us honour the lives lost and the families forever changed by continuing to look out for one another, stay prepared, and build a stronger, more resilient Bahamas together. π§πΈ
