Wangchuck Centennial National Park, the largest protected area of 4914 Km2, born to mark 100 years of serene rule of the benevolent monarchs and as a tribute to the altruistic service of the kings under Wangchuck dynasty of Bhutan is a newly established protected area of the country, i.e. The park is considered one of the most imperative high water towers feeding four major rivers of Bhutan, namel

y Punatshangchu (Sunkosh), Mangduechu, Chamkarchu and Kurichu (tributaries of Manas). Permanent snow clad mountains such as Gangkar Puensum, Rinchen Zoegila and Jazayla are located in the park. Almost 85% of the park remains under snow cover for about four months during the winter. Summer monsoon rainfall extends from June to September. The longevity of these water towers and watersheds of this park will be vital for sustaining hydropower generation for the present and the future generation of the Bhutanese. The vegetation ranges from warm broadleaf forests to alpine meadows, spanning an altitudinal range from 2,500 to 5,100m. Over 693 species of vascular plants, 44 mammal species, and 251 bird species, 246 species of butterfly and 5 species of fish has been recorded from the park and its buffer zone. The mammal fauna includes several iconic species such as the Tiger (Panthera tigris), Snow leopard (Uncia uncia), Tibetan wolf (Canis lupus), Bhutan takin (Budorcas taxicolor whitei), Himalayan Black Bear (Ursus thibetanus), and Red panda (Ailurus fulgens). Five Dzongkhags (Districts) namely Gasa, Wangdue Phodrang, Trongsa, Bumthang and Lhuentse and their ten geogs (Blocks) fall within the ambit of Wangchuck Centennial Park.

Handing and taking of completed capital work from construction firm on 6th April 2026.
The Range Office ,Dungkar Park Range on behalf of WCNP management has successfully taken over the completed capital work on Dungkar Park Range maintenance from M/s Rabten Builder today in the presence of Range Level committee member involved from Kurtoe Gewog,site engineer ,DPR staffs and other sector head under Kurtoe Gewog. The construction firm has completed in all aspects maintaining workmanship during the entire period. Following the governments directives on travel minimization ,officials from WCNP HQ could not attend the said program.
However ,it was made it possible through funding support from Bhutan for Life project and DoFPs and other partners .Management would like to thank funding partners and DoFPs and construction firm for the support for making it success.

The work on Maintenance of Dungkar Park Range office including fencing, water supply ,PCC ,staff quarter and office under this management marks the overall work progress of 95% as of now. The overall work progress significantly indicate collective achievement of regular monitoring and work supervision by WCNP management and site engineer and cooperation and workmanship of construction firm.
The construction firm has ensured adequate workmanship and work progress is ahead of work plan by two months. The management deeply remained committed in providing the enhanced public service through improvised maintained service and structure.
Also, management remain highly grateful to Department and BFL secretariat for the funding support making possible for the work ex*****on. Bhutan For Life

During their time at WCNP, each of you served with unwavering dedication, sincerity, and loyalty, rendering invaluable service to the public and to the Tsa-Wa-Sum. Your hard work, professionalism, and friendship have left a lasting mark on the management and on all of us who had the privilege to work alongside you.

The Wangchuck Centennial National Park (WCNP) successfully conducted a two-day Post-Fire Damage Assessment Training for 22 staff members from three park ranges. The training sessions were held on the following dates:
• 20/11/2025 at Sephu Range Office, Wangdue Phodrang
• 24–25/11/2025 at Chokor Park Range Office, Bumthang
• 27–28/11/2025 at Dungkar Park Range Office, Lhuentse
The primary objective of this training program was to strengthen the technical capacity of field staff by providing them with practical skills and standardized methodologies essential for conducting post-fire damage assessments.
This training was fully supported and funded by UNDP Bhutan.

Ad-hoc Timber Auction Notification
The Office of the Wangchcuk Centennial National Park, Bumthang, would like to notify all the interested eligible bidders with valid logging license to register for the open timber auction from the proposed Dhur Tsachu Road alignment from Mendruling to Tso-Jung chen under Dhur Chewog, Chokor geog on an "as is where is basis". The auction is scheduled on 4th November (Tuesday) at WCNP Head Office, Nashphel, Chokortoe at 11.00 AM.
