4th June 2026: Crime and Drug Awareness Program

A Crime and Drug Awareness Program was conducted by the Deputy Chief of Police, Crime and Operations Division, Royal Bhutan Police, for the staff of Gasa Dzongkhag Administration, regional heads, and LG members.

The program focused on raising awareness on the growing concerns of crime and substance abuse, highlighting preventive measures and the role of communities and local leaders in supporting law enforcement efforts. Key issues related to drug abuse, emerging crime trends, and legal implications were presented.

The presentation was very interesting and highly informative, and was followed by an interactive question and answer session.

In observance of World Environment Day 2026, Gasa Dzongkhag Administration invites all students, civil servants, local communities, photographers, and nature enthusiasts to participate in the Nature Photography Competition 2026 under the theme:

“Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

Capture and showcase Bhutan’s natural beauty, biodiversity, landscapes, wildlife, water resources, and the connection between people and nature.

Observation of Social Forestry Day 2026: Plantation Program at Tshachu and Jangwathang

On 2 June 2026, coinciding with Social Forestry Day and in commemoration of the Coronation Day of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, a plantation program was successfully conducted at the Tshachu and Jangwathang areas. The program aimed to promote environmental conservation, ecological restoration, biodiversity enhancement, and landscape beautification.

The plantation activity was jointly carried out by the Dzongkhag Administration, Dratshang, District Court, regional offices, and other stakeholders, with financial support from the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation.

A total of 1,631 saplings and plants of various species were planted, including:

* Salix Trees – 950 Nos.
* Rhododendron – 110 Nos.
* Maple Trees – 19 Nos.
* Daphne – 198 Nos.
* Azalea – 152 Nos.
* Benthamidia – 45 Nos.
* Symplocos – 157 Nos.
* Three species of bamboo planted at designated locations.

The Dzongkhag Administration extends its sincere appreciation to all participants and acknowledges the valuable support provided by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation in making the plantation program a success. The initiative will contribute to a greener, healthier, and more beautiful environment for present and future generations.

27th May 2026: Two officials fromGovTech Agency conducted an awareness workshop for the staff of Gasa Dzongkhag Administration on Google Workspace, Bhutan NDI Wallet, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The workshop consisted of presentations, hands-on training and interactive question and answer session, which enabled the participants to gain practical knowledge and a better understanding of the topics covered.

The session was chaired by the Dasho Dzongrab. The workshop was highly informative and beneficial, enhancing participants’ awareness of digital tools, online security practices, and emerging technologies relevant to government services and workplace efficiency.

Report on Departmental Volleyball Tournament, Gasa Dzongkhag
The Departmental Volleyball Tournament was successfully organized by a staff of Gasa Hospital from 23rd to 24th May 2026 during the weekend. The tournament was conducted with the objectives of fostering a healthy working atmosphere within the community, promoting healthy lifestyles, and encouraging the growth of sports activities in remote locations.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a total of 12 teams, comprising 6 men’s teams and 6 women’s teams. Participants represented various agencies and institutions, including school teachers, Dzongkha staff, Royal Bhutan Police , regional offices, and gewog administrations. It was particularly encouraging and overwhelming to see a greater number of women’s teams coming forward and actively participating in the tournament.
The tournament was organized in line with the Dzongkhag Sports Annual Plan and was supported through the annual grant provided by the Bhutan Olympic Committee.
After two days of spirited competition, the tournament concluded on 24th May 2026 with exciting final matches. In the women’s category, Laya Central School emerged as the champions, while the team from the Regional Offices secured the runner-up position. In the men’s category, the Shaoulin team, consisting of monks from Gasa Rabdey, claimed the championship title, while the Gar-Dzong team, comprising Dzongkhag staff, finished as runners-up.

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of the Lopen Umze as the Chief Guest, who awarded cash prizes and congratulated all the participants for their sportsmanship and active involvement. The tournament not only strengthened camaraderie among participants but also highlighted the importance of sports in enhancing unity, well-being, and community engagement in remote regions like Gasa.

Dasho Dzongdag shared valuable insights, encouraging the new appointees to serve the nation with dedication, professionalism, and integrity. He emphasized the importance of mental well-being, encouraging them to take care of their mental health while adapting to their new responsibilities. He also urged them to continuously pursue learning and professional growth, even after joining the job, in order to improve their skills and serve effectively

Search and Rescue (SAR) and First Aid Training

A two day Search and Rescue (SAR) training and one day First Aid training were successfully conducted at Tsachu from 29th April to 1st May 2026.

The program commenced with an opening session led by the Dessup Coordinator, followed by a keynote address from Dasho Dzongdag, who highlighted the importance of preparedness and the vital role of Dessups in safeguarding communities, especially in disaster-prone areas like Gasa Dzongkhag.

Day One : focused on foundational skills, including knot-tying techniques, rescue equipment handling, and mountain rescue protocols. The sessions combined theoretical presentations by Dasho OC (RBP) followed by hands on practical exercises, allowing participants to apply learned techniques in simulated scenarios by RBP team,Gasa.

Day Two : emphasized field-based practical training. Participants engaged in cliff rappelling and mountain rescue operations under the guidance of RBP officials. The day included demonstrations, group exercises, and safety briefings, ensuring participants gained confidence and practical exposure.

Day Three : covered First Aid training facilitated by a health professional from Punakha Hospital. The sessions included basic life-saving techniques such as CPR, improvised stretcher making, and emergency response skills.

The training concluded with a closing session graced by Dasho Dzongdag. A brief presentation and reflections were shared by participants and officials. In the closing remarks, Dasho expressed appreciation for the active participation and highlighted that the training has strengthened a dedicated and capable SAR team for the Dzongkhag.
