5th August 2026: 10th DT session of Gasa
The 10th Dzongkhag Tshogdu (DT) Session of the Third Local Government of Gasa Dzongkhag was successfully convened today 5th August 2026. The session was chaired by the DT Thrizin and attended by the DT members. As observers, the session was attended by the Dasho Dzongdag, the Hon'ble Member of Parliament of Khamaed Lunana and Khatoed Laya, Rabdey Drungchen, OC RBP and regional and sector heads.

The session commenced with a review of the resolutions of the 9th Dzongkhag Tshogdu Session, followed by the endorsement of the Dzongkhag Capital Budget for the Financial Year 2026–2027 and presentations on the Gewog Capital Budgets. The House also deliberated on several important agendas submitted by the Gewogs.

Promotion Ceremony for Civil Servants of Gasa

The Gasa Dzongkhag Administration celebrated the promotion of three civil servants, comprising teachers from Bjishong Central School and Laya Central School. The promotion ceremony was chaired by the Dasho Dzongdag and attended by Sector Heads and a representative from Gasa Rabdey. During the ceremony, Dasho Dzongdag conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the promoted officials and expressed sincere appreciation for their dedicated service, commitment, and contributions. Dasho encouraged them to view their promotion not only as recognition of their past achievements but also as a motivation to take on greater responsibilities and continue serving with professionalism and excellence.

The ceremony concluded with words of encouragement, inspiring the promoted officials and all staff to remain committed to serving the Tsawa-Sum with integrity, pride, and dedication.

23rd July 2026: Formation of Dzongkhag Level El Niño Task Force

The Dzongkhag Level El Niño Task Force was formally established to strengthen preparedness, coordination, and response mechanisms for potential impacts associated with the El Niño phenomenon. The members of the Task Force were finalized, comprising representatives from relevant sectors to ensure a coordinated and multi-sectoral approach in addressing risks related to water scarcity, drought, forest fires, agriculture, livestock, and other climate induced hazards.

The Terms of Reference (ToR) of the Dzongkhag Level El Niño Task Force was reviewed and endorsed to guide the roles, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms of the committee. The Task Force will be responsible for assessing potential risks, developing contingency plans, facilitating preparedness measures, mobilizing resources, and providing technical support to Gewog Level Task Forces to enhance community resilience against possible El Niño impacts.

14th July 2026: Welcoming and Induction Program for Newly Appointed PGDE Teachers

The Dzongkhag Administration, Gasa, conducted an induction program for the newly appointed 3 PGDE teachers: Mr. Sonam Chodrak and Mr.Passang Tobgay to Laya Central School and Ms.Thinley Choden to Bjishong Central School.

The induction program covered HR Rules and Regulations, general roles and responsibilities of civil servants, professional conduct and the respective job descriptions. The program aimed to provide the participants with a clear understanding of their duties, responsibilities, and expectations, enabling them to transition smoothly into their new roles.

Farewell to Mr. Mohan Rai, Sr.Technician
The Dzongkhag Administration, Gasa, extends its heartfelt appreciation and best wishes to Mr. Mohan Rai, Senior Technician, on his transfer to Tsirang Dzongkhag. Since joining Gasa Dzongkhag in 2012, Mr. Mohan has dedicated 14 years of sincere and committed service. Throughout his tenure, he has made significant contributions to the implementation of RWSS works and has played a vital role in the successful coordination during the Royal Highland Festivals.
