On 15th December 2025 at NPiDC five Animal Attendants were gifted with recognition badges for there service as Pig AI technicians, semen collector, semen processor and AI boar trainers. Their service will be instrumental while promoting AI service to potential piggery dzongkhags. Congratulations to all.

In order to reduce the uCOP for piglet and pork few piggery farmers are practicing low cost feed formulation and feeding. They use cassava mesh as basal energy feed ingredients with crushed maize, rice bran and liquid distillery stillage for Crude protein source. As per the farmers experience there is no difference in their pigs performance.

Pig breeding tips in summer heat:
Heat stress can bring adverse affect for breeders leading to high cases of stillbirth (born dead). it's also known as summer infertility. Shed temperature should not cross above 30 degrees. Best prevention method is to keep shed temperature cool by (a) washing pigs and shed during hottest part of the day, (b) fix fan in the shed, (c) sprinkling water at rooftop of shed, (d) installed mist or foggers in shed, etc . Sharing for benefits of all pig breeders.

Mr. Tashi Phuntsho (Dzongda), serving under DoL for the last 42 years, is a professional pig breeder and only the trained Swine AI expert in the country. He will be retiring by coming August. For his dedicated service to the piggery sector ,he was awarded with Lifelong CS award GOLD on 15th December 2023 at NPiDC gelephu. He was formally received by his coworkers with welcome khadar offering on the day of medal awarding.
