Mountain Hazelnuts We are a social enterprise working to establish a world-class hazelnut production in Bhutan that creates shared value for all stakeholders.

Mountain Hazelnuts (MH) is a social enterprise producing premium quality hazelnuts in Bhutan. MH creates shared value for rural mountain communities, shareholders, and the environment. MH provides young hazelnut trees, inputs, and technical assistance to support smallholder farmers as part of a long-term partnership. The Company purchases all harvested hazelnuts, which are processed for export to

international markets. Hazelnut cultivation enables smallholder farming households and community organizations to generate sustainable cash income. It also stabilizes mountain slopes, reduces erosion, improves water retention in watersheds, and mitigates climate change by sequestering carbon and improving soil fertility. Bhutan’s first 100% foreign investment company, Mountain Hazelnuts has grown to become Bhutan’s largest private employer. Its activities also provide long-term indirect income for thousands of additional Bhutanese.
