SC- Brumbi had provided hands on training to the Groups (Khengrig Namsum Cooperative, Pangbang Youth Cooperative & Takabi Women Group) on value addition from locally available agricultural produces that are grown within the pockets of Zhemgang. The value added products will benefit the farm-gate producers and processors in terms of market capturing, diversification of products and living standards. Above all, it will mitigate the post harvest loss in surplus commodities in the agricultural chain. The products were launched in Bhutan Bird Festival to get feed back from costumers on every showcased- product. Hence, the groups will commercialise the particular products that have higher demand from consumers.
The training fund was provided in full package ( including raw materials, packaging and labelling) by Zhemgang Agriculture sector.

The sensory evaluation on honey was conducted by the Center in collaboration with the GI (Geographical Indication) task force team. The sensory evaluation was done to frame descriptors for multifloral Bumthang honey for the Book of Specification for GI application. The staff from DAMC and livestock had joined the evaluation.

note:
A GI-classified honey is honey that has been officially recognized as coming from a specific geographical region, and whose unique characteristics — such as color, flavor, aroma, pollen profile, or medicinal properties — are directly linked to that region’s natural and human factors (like flora, climate, soil, and traditional beekeeping methods).

The GI honey ensures authenticity and Origin.
GI classification confirms the geographical origin of the honey.
Prevents mislabeling or adulteration — so consumers know they’re buying genuine honey from a specific region.
Builds trust in both domestic and international markets.
