The Penal Code of Bhutan includes provisions that criminalize r**e, harassment, and other forms of sexual violence.

However, enforcement can many times challenging due to limited resources, ways to prove, societal stigma.

People jump to claiming any cases false is simply an act of Bias and Victim-Blaming. Proving an existence of ‘r@pe culture in Bhutan.

The fact is in Bhutan the fake /fake cases happen but very rare. Stats say only about 2 to 5% are fake, the genuine cases are 95 to 98%.

Another fact there is stigma around sexual abuses, and girls/ women shy away or stay silent rather than report cases.

There’s a glaring hypocrisy in society: men are disproportionately responsible for high crime rates, including r**e, violence, drug peddling, and corruption. Yet, these same men often position themselves as the gatekeepers of tradition and culture. Be cautious of men who loudly advocate for preserving these values—they are often the ones involved in abusive behaviors, from domestic violence to sexual assault and other criminal activities. Their real intent is often to maintain power and control, rather than uphold the principles they claim to protect.
