Respect is hugely important in our Buy Nothing community. 💛

Please respect your neighbours, their privacy, and their property:
- Do not send private messages regarding an item until you have been chosen as a recipient.
- Do not take anything from your neighbour’s property without specific permission.

Remember that gifting in the Buy Nothing Project is always at the discretion of the Gifter.

💚 - Please be considerate of your neighbours, and allow others the opportunity to request items too. Whilst there is no limit to the number of items you can request to receive, please think about others and whether it is an item you really do want and can use, or just an impulsive request. It always helps to personalise your requests, too. 💚

🧡 - If you are requesting on behalf of another family member or a friend, or for any other reason that the item is not for yourself, please be transparent when requesting. It is reasonable for someone to prefer an item go directly to someone within our little community where possible. It is absolutely fine for you to request something for someone else, but simply be upfront about it at the time. 🧡

Remember that integrity, honesty and trust are required for this gift economy to flourish, and for connections to develop between us here. 🌻

🌟 Comments such as, "I would love to be considered for these towels! Yellow is my favourite colour," or "this painting would look perfect above my mantel" are little ways that we can build community and connection, and get to know one another, rather than simply writing "interested" or "may I please be considered".

These friendly comments also give the gifter an opportunity to see what new life the item may take on, and offer connection between neighbours. 🏘 Maybe you will discover that one of your neighbours enjoys cooking Persian food just like you do, and you can share recipes! Or that your neighbour is expecting twins the same month that you are! 👯‍♀️

They may seem like little things on the surface, these little tiny comments, but they are the building blocks to an interconnected community. 💛
