The Thimphu Dzongkhag family had the privilege of attending the Shree Markandya Mahapuran Path Parayan (Katha) at Kuenselphodrang Devi Panchayan Mandir on 21 August 2026, where we offered our prayers and sought divine blessings.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Organizing Committee of the Hindu Dharma Samudaya of Bhutan for organizing this sacred and spiritually enriching gathering.

Celebrating 40 Years of Japan–Bhutan Friendship 🇯🇵🤝🇧🇹

✨ Two days of community, culture & harvest:
• 👥 1,895 visitors (1,800 local, 95 foreign)
• 🌍 Foreign guests: 36 Japanese + 59 others
• 🍄 Farmers sold 450+ KG of Matsutake
• 💰 Revenue generated: Nu. 920,000+

👏 This year’s program was truly grand — with both local and foreign visitors doubling compared to last year. Such success was possible thanks to the full support of the Department of Tourism, the dedicated efforts of the Sangay Shamu group, and the active involvement of Gewog officials,and community stakeholders.

🙏 Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the farmers of Geney Gewog, Schools staffs and students ,partners, and all visitors who made this celebration vibrant, memorable, and a shining example of friendship and collaboration.

Matsutake is becoming an increasingly important source of income for farmers in Genye Gewog in Thimphu. While exporters have agreed on higher prices this year, mushroom collectors in the gewog say they can earn even more by selling their mushrooms directly at the annual Matsutake Festival.
