The Department of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment in collaboration with Druk Sell, launched a range of innovative green packaging solutions developed by five Bhutanese entrepreneurs on 8 October 2025, at the Brand Bhutan Store, CSI Throm.

Supported by the Enhanced Integrated Framework Project, the Green Packaging Initiative aims to build the capacity of Brand Bhutan recipients and Cottage and Small Industries (CSIs) in sustainable packaging, branding and export readiness. The program aligns Bhutanese products with international standards while promoting environmental responsibility.

The initiative complements the Brand Bhutan Program’s goal of enhancing the global visibility and competitiveness of Bhutanese goods. With an initial start of general training to 30 entrepreneurs, 5 were selected through pitching sessions. Five enterprises—Bio Bhutan, Bhutan Blossoms, Finn Food, Jinlab Agro and Tshejor Eazay—were recognized for their innovative and eco-friendly packaging designs that blend sustainability with quality and creativity.

Reaffirming its commitment to greener trade practices, the Department of Trade emphasized continued collaboration and innovation to strengthen Bhutan’s progress toward sustainable, high-quality and globally competitive exports.

✨ Self-awareness is the foundation of true growth.
Whenever we think or do something harmful or untrue, the first step is recognition. Just like a thief can't cause harm once caught, negative thoughts lose their power when we become mindful of them. As soon as such emotions arise—swoop down with mindfulness. 🦅

On the flip side, when positive thoughts arise, nurture and strengthen them. 🌱💫

True Dharma practice isn’t about appearances. It’s about mixing the teachings with your own mind, reflecting honestly, and examining your faults. Without that, we risk putting on a façade—believing and making others believe we’re practitioners, when in truth we’re far from it.

90th Birthday Message

On the occasion of my 90th birthday, I understand that well-wishers and friends in many places, including Tibetan communities, are gathering for celebrations. I particularly appreciate the fact that many of you are using the occasion to engage in initiatives that highlight the importance of compassion, warm-heartedness, and altruism.

I am just a simple Buddhist monk; I don’t normally engage in birthday celebrations. However, since you are organizing events focused on my birthday I wish to share some thoughts.

While it is important to work for material development, it is vital to focus on achieving peace of mind through cultivating a good heart and by being compassionate, not just toward near and dear ones, but toward everyone. Through this, you will contribute to making the world a better place.

As for myself, I will continue to focus on my commitments of promoting human values, religious harmony, drawing attention to the ancient Indian wisdom which explains the workings of mind and emotions, and Tibetan culture and heritage, which has so much potential to contribute to the world through its emphasis on peace of mind and compassion.

I develop determination and courage in my daily life through the teachings of the Buddha and Indian masters such as Shantideva, whose following aspiration I strive to uphold.

As long as space endures,
As long as sentient being remain,
Until then, may I too remain
To dispel the miseries of the world.

Thank you for using the opportunity of my birthday to cultivate peace of mind and compassion.

Tashi Deleg and with prayers,

Dalai Lama
