The External Program Review (EPR) or Joint Monitoring Mission (JMM) of the National Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program was successfully conducted from 24โ29 May 2026 in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Fund, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, and the Global Drug Facility (GDF).
The review assessed the progress, achievements, challenges, and overall performance of the National TB Control Program, while identifying opportunities to further strengthen TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care services. Conducted in a hybrid format, the mission included in-person consultations with key stakeholders at the national and subnational levels, field visits to nearby TB reporting centres to assess service delivery and program implementation, and virtual discussions with health professionals from all 32 TB reporting centres across the country. These discussions provided valuable insights into operational challenges, best practices, and opportunities for improving TB services.
The findings and recommendations from the EPR or JMM will inform future strategic planning and program improvements, supporting Bhutanโs efforts to achieve national and global TB targets and accelerate progress toward ending tuberculosis as a public health threat.
