A total of 26 civil servants received prestigious civil service awards in a solemn ceremony attended by senior public servants. Dasho Dungpa highlighted the purpose of the institution of Civil Service Award by His Majesty the King. Congratulating the recipients, he stated that not all Bhutanese are fortunate to receive the awards if not employed as public servant. Even as public servant, chance of missing award on the ground of inefficiency, disciplinary issue etc is high. Being able to receive award itself is the recognition, and is testimony to their hardwork and service. Dasho reminded while all have performed and served with utmost dedication and loyalty, fast changing world and eco-system demand more commitment, sacrifices, initiatives and multi-tasking. Thus reforms in the civil service are initiated for greater purpose. No way our commitment and patriotism should be shakened by reforms. The purpose and vision of the reform are clear - to take this country to 'developed state'. If we do not support and embrace it with greater sense of purpose and urgency, who else will support it. Dasho urged all public servants to give their best in their respective professions and focus on ensuring efficient public service delivery. The ceremony ended with prayers for His Majesty's long life and prosperity under the reign of His Majesty.
