Briefing:
PMTCT program was started in Botswana in 1999. Its main focus is to promote production of healthy "HIV
free born babies" The program also addresses four components of Sexual and Reproductive Health which are:
1. Prevention of pregnancies among young girls
2. Prevention of unwanted pregnancies among HIV positive women
3. Provision of ART/ ARVT to HIV positive pregnant and nursing women.
4.Support to the mother and family. PMTCT Package includes:
* Routine HIV Testing
* Post test counseling
* Antiretroviral therapy
* Safe Obstetric practices
* Infant Feeding and
* Infant HIV testing
