AUDITOR GENERAL TO PERFORM SECTOR-MONITORING OF THE EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY
The Office of the Auditor General has formulated an internal experienced team of auditors, to institutionalise sector monitoring of the extractive industry in Botswana.
The main focus is to influence positive policy change in the industry for the benefit of all citizens. The team is coodinated by Ms. Kgomotsego Mokone, a seasoned auditor with the Office of the Auditor General.
In many countries including Botswana, the extractive industry plays a key role in FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) and contribution to public revenue. It opens up job opportunities for the local market including social & community investment AND local procurement of goods and services amoungst others.

The end of a four day training course for approximately twenty (20) OAG Auditors on the 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊 (PFM) will yield best results will for public sector auditing.

Botswana’s Acting Auditor General, Ms. Keneilwe Senyarelo, yesterday officially opened a four-day training course for approximately twenty (20) OAG Auditors on the Public Financial Management Reporting (PFM) Framework. This is a training that is being carried by Botswana SAI development partners 𝐀𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐀𝐈-𝐄 and 𝐆𝐈𝐙 .
