Visionary Student Alliance (VSA) Leadership Update

The Visionary Student Alliance (VSA) wishes to officially announce key leadership appointments for the upcoming academic year. In line with the University constitution, the Founder President, Mr. Happy Mmeke, is not eligible to run for any office, officially confirmed ✅

Following thorough consultations, the Founder President has made the following appointments:

1. Acting President: Mr. Praise Makunura will serve as the Acting President of the Visionary Student Alliance for one academic year.

2. Vice President: Mr. Kasoma will take on the role of Vice President during the same period.

Speaking on the appointments, Mr. Happy Mmeke stated: "Let me assure everyone that nothing has changed. My commitment to the Visionary Student Alliance (VSA) remains as strong as ever. This is an initiative born from a deep-seated passion to serve, to advocate for the rights and welfare of students, and to uplift the University of Lusaka to its rightful place among the best universities not just in Africa, but across the globe".

As the Founder President, Mr. Mmeke will remain actively involved in advising and supporting the team, ensuring that the VSA continues to grow and fulfill its mission of empowering students and driving positive change.

STATEMENT ON ELIGIBILITY CONCERNS OF VSA FOUNDING PRESIDENT, Happy Mmeke

It has come to our attention that Visionary Student Alliance (VSA) founding president, Happy Mmeke, may not meet the eligibility criteria to run for any office at the University of Lusaka. As stipulated in the University Constitution, candidates vying for positions must be in their second year of study or higher.

Addressing the matter, Happy Mmeke stated: "If the constitution declares that I am not eligible, I will step down without hesitation. This will provide me with an opportunity to prepare myself even more robustly for the next academic year. However, I was fully ready to implement transformative reforms that would have redefined student leadership in this institution."

To ensure transparency and fairness, the president has pledged to visit the Student Affairs Office to verify the validity of these claims. Until then, we will await official confirmation from the relevant authorities.

The Visionary Student Alliance remains committed to its mission of championing the interests of students and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and leadership.
