Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) is participating in the two-day Chobe Business Expo 2026 in Kazungula, providing an important platform to showcase its mandate and connect businesses with opportunities across investment, trade, exports, business facilitation and the Brand Botswana.
The Expo was officially opened by the Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Honourable Tiroeaone Ntsima, alongside the Member of Parliament for Chobe, Honourable Simasiku Oscar Mapulanga and other government officials.
Speaking at the opening, Minister Ntsima called for stronger collaboration between government, businesses and communities to unlock investment and economic opportunities in Chobe. He urged businesses to move beyond networking and convert engagements into tangible outcomes, including new customers, partnerships, investment, contracts and jobs.
Highlighting Chobe’s strategic position as a world-class tourism destination and gateway to regional markets, Minister Ntsima encouraged greater participation of local enterprises in tourism and other value chains. He called on large businesses and tourism establishments to deliberately develop credible local suppliers, while urging SMMEs to strengthen their capacity, quality, professionalism and reliability.
He further emphasised the need to create an enabling environment for young people and women entrepreneurs to access markets, finance, skills, technology and business networks.
The Minister’s call aligns with BITC’s continued efforts to facilitate business linkages, promote investment and trade, and support the growth and competitiveness of local enterprises through its national mandate.
The Member of Parliament for Chobe, Honourable Simasiku Oscar Mapulanga, also called for the acceleration of infrastructure development in the District to strengthen its investment potential and attract more investors.
The Expo is held under the theme “5 Years of Connecting Businesses, Creating Opportunities and Growing Together.”
