Banyana (PTY) LTD appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Bodies and State Enterprises, yesterday as part of the committeeβs ongoing oversight assessment on state-owned enterprises.
During the briefing, the committee reviewed the companyβs land allocations, financial performance, lease agreements, and audited accounts before the entity was closed.
Committee members sought clarification on the transfer of Banyana Farms to the government, including the costs involved in the process. They also raised concerns over alleged controversial allocations and questioned whether young people were benefiting from the allocations made by the organisation.
The committee further requested an explanation for delays in lease rentals, which have affected cash flow, and asked about the accounting systems and operational frameworks that were in place to guide the companyβs activities and overall performance.
