๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐. ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐!
The BDP wishes one of its elders, ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ a happiest 86th birthday today! Born at Moshupa on 9th January 1940, โ๐๐ซ. ๐', as heโs affectionately known within the BDP, grew up in Kanye where he later set up his family business in 1962.
In 1965 under the presidency of the founding President, the late Sir Seretse Khama, Rre Dada won a council seat in Kanye (Tloung Ward) where he served two terms as a BDP councillor from 1965-1974. He later relocated to Gaborone to pursue his motor business interests. In 1999, Rre Dada was nominated as a specially elected Member of Parliament by former President Dr. Festus Mogae, after losing the general elections to the late Dr. Kenneth Koma at Gaborone South constituency. Until Rre Dada stepped down as BDP Treasurer on account of his advanced age last year in May 2025, he held the record as the BDPโs longest serving Treasurer. Rre Dada is now a BDP Elder and member in good standing.
Outside politics, Rre Abdul Satar Dada is also a well known Botswanaโs most impactful philanthropist, whose focus is on initiatives that uplift vulnerable communities. Through the Dada Foundation, he has financed the construction of numerous houses for the needy as well as health clinics in places such as Kanye, Molepolole, Kumakwane, Moshupa and Gaborone.
In recognition of his contributions to Botswana, he was also awarded the Presidential Order of Meritorious Service by former President Seretse Khama Ian Khama in 2015. Also, at the University of Botswana 42nd Graduation last year in October, the University conferred an Honorary Doctorate on Rre Dada in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the humanities, social sciences and the business world.
