The Gambling Authority last night joined some of Botswana and Africaโs most influential women at the Summit Organisationโs Spring Highlight Dinner - an inspiring celebration of leadership, legacy and impact.
Held on 3 September 2026 at The Grand Palm Hotel, the prestigious gathering formed part of Botswanaโs 60th Independence celebrations and brought together accomplished women from politics, traditional leadership, diplomacy, academia, public health, business and development.
As Headline Sponsor of the Spring Highlight Series, the Gambling Authority attended the event in strong numbers, demonstrating its commitment to supporting platforms that elevate womenโs voices, encourage meaningful dialogue and contribute to national development.
The Authorityโs Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Ms Tshepang Magang, was among the eveningโs distinguished panellists. During the panel discussion, she spoke vividly and passionately about responsible gambling, corporate citizenship and the important role institutions must play in supporting the communities they serve.
Ms Magang highlighted the Authorityโs commitment to building a gambling industry that is responsibly regulated, protects consumers and contributes meaningfully to Botswanaโs social and economic development. She also underscored the importance of ensuring that the industryโs growth is accompanied by public education, harm-prevention initiatives and sustained community investment.
Her contribution reinforced the Gambling Authorityโs belief that its mandate extends beyond regulation. Through its corporate social responsibility initiatives and partnerships, the Authority continues to plough back into communities, support worthy causes and promote positive, lasting social impact.
The evening also celebrated an extraordinary group of women whose courage, intellect and service have shaped Botswana, Africa and the world. Among them were Dr Naledi Pandor, Ms. Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, Dr Margaret Nasha, Professor Sheila Tlou, Ambassador Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba, Dr Lulu Gwagwa, just to name but a few.
These remarkable women represent generations of leadership that have broken barriers, opened doors and redefined what is possible. Their stories served as a powerful reminder that Botswanaโs development has been shaped by women who dared to lead - and that its future will continue to be strengthened by women of vision, courage and purpose.
As Botswana marks 60 years of Independence this month, Spring Highlight 2026 provided a fitting platform to honour the women who helped build the nationโs story and those shaping its next chapter.
