The European Union has launched a BWP 125 million “Green Value Chain Development for Job Creation” Programme aimed at boosting jobs and economic growth in Botswana’s eco-tourism and horticulture sectors.

Running from 2026–2030, the programme will be implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in partnership with Botswana’s Ministries of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Environment and Tourism, and Lands and Agriculture.

🇪🇺 Europe was built on a promise: freedom, equality, and democracy. Today, in a world of rising conflicts and economic pressures, we must defend these values, at home and abroad.

Yesterday when we celebrated , we celebrated not just who we are, but what we do, together with Member States and partners worldwide, to protect our way of life and promote a fairer, safer, and more sustainable world.

For her fourth and final Europe Day celebration in Botswana, EU Ambassador Petra Pereyra stated: “In a world that is increasingly fragmented and uncertain, where short-term interests increasingly overshadow long-term stability, we need dialogue, international cooperation and multilateralism more than ever. And you can count on the European Union to remain a reliable and predictable partner based on mutual respect, and shared interests and values.”

In addressing the profound transformation unfolding within the international system, Honourable Dr Phenyo Butale, Minister of International Relations, expressed "the urgent need for stronger international partnerships, renewed commitment to multilateralism, and collective approaches to global problem solving. Botswana therefore remains firmly committed to a rules-based international order and to working closely with strategic partners such as the European Union in promoting peace, stability, sustainable development, and shared prosperity."

A big thank you to our partners African Parks GIZ SADC/Botswana, Travel for Impact, Kuru Art, OKACOM, and SmartBots for sharing your inspiring initiatives and giving our guests a closer look at the impact of our work. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇼
