DAY 3 OF FULL COUNCIL

HONORABLE RAMOGAPI ADDRESSES FULL COUNCIL

Honorable Minister of Water and Human settlement Onneetse Ramogapi addressed Moshupa District Full Council on objectives of Bonno Housing Scheme.

The purpose of the address was to assure the District leadership that Bonno Housing Scheme is meant to enable citizens to secure dignified accommodation by giving them developed plots.

He appraised Moshupa District Council for the successful completion of ten turnkey houses whilst they were working with a limited budget.

The Honorable Minister highlighted that the government does not have enough resources to build Bonno Houses and therefore resorted to engaging private investors. He noted that investors do not own the plots rather they develop the assigned plots and bonno applicants will be given priority to rent to buy and acquire legal ownership of those plots.

He urged the Honorable Councillors to encourage their communities to take advantage of the scheme since it is meant to provide habitable homes for every individual.

On another note the Minister mentioned that Water Utilities is working hard to ensure enough water supply across the district though they are facing financial constraints.

AFTERNOON SESSION

1. MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND HOME AFFAIRS
The Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary and Social Security also Director of Productivity and Competitiveness Mr. Bonnie Jim presented the National productivity and Competitiveness policy and strategy.

2. ANTI TO***CO NETWORK BOTSWANA
Programs Manager for Anti To***co Network Botswana Mr. Thabo Katlholo sensitised the Honorable House about the rising threats of to***co consumption in the society, he therefore requested the Council to actively support the implementation of To***co Control Act in order for it to be fully operational.

3. MOTHER BRANDS BOTSWANA
The Director of Mother brands Botswana Mr. Gibson Ntibi presented the locally produced real tea product, the organisation prides itself in local empowerment as they contribute to employment creation as well as partaking in corporate social responsibilities.

DAY 2 OF FULL COUNCIL SESSION

HONOURABLE COUNCILLORS COMMENT ON CHAIRMAN'S SPEECH

In response to the Chairman's speech, Honorable Councillors took time to appreciate listed achievements, express their grievances on pressing matters as well as extend support to projects on the pilot.

They collectively called for roads maintenance across the district as they emphasized that almost every road is overdue for maintenance.

Members of the house also raised concern on delay to open the hospital plus shortage of medication.

Commenting on the low performance results recorded from term 2 school examinations, honorable members mentioned that the situation requires intervention from the community at large to jointly support students and education centers with needful resources to help improve students performance.

When embracing the upcoming Chairman's Hike the Honorable Councillors expressed their commitment to partake in the event and contribute towards making it a success.

They wholly welcomed the newly founded Moshupa District Council Investment Company which is expected to make a remarkable improvement in the district's economic status.

The Honorable house went on to appreciate the newly invented measure of saving water in primary schools and at RAC offices which has shown a significant reduction on utility bills.

As they concluded they appreciated the official handover of the stadium which will be held today.
