non-profit making social development organi Natural siblings stay
together.

Through our Family Based Care model children get a permanent residence where
they live with a mother and other SOS brothers and sisters. The Family Strengthening Program takes care of children while they
still live with their natural families. This is done by capacitating the natural families.

Child Protection Week Commemoration in Matshelagabedi

SOS Childrenโ€™s Village, Francistown recently held a Child Protection Week commemoration in Matshelagabedi under the theme, โ€œUnited for Safe Families, Protected Children and an End to Domestic Violence.โ€

The theme promotes collective efforts to protect children, prevent abuse and domestic violence and create safe, loving families. The event was attended by the village leadership, Office of the District Commissioner, the Social Welfare Office, Community Development Office, school children, the local clinic, GBV office and the Matshelagabedi community at large.

Caregivers Wellness: A Key to Child Protection

SOS Childrenโ€™s Village, Serowe held a meaningful Caregivers Wellness Day. The day provided staff with an opportunity to prioritise their physical and emotional well-being while strengthening their capacity to care for children.

The day began with an intense and energising physical exercise session led by Mr Lenthabetse Makobo of Kombos Fitness Club, getting staff moving, laughing and fully engaged.

This was followed by an insightful session led by Ms Joyce from the Health Promotion and Education Unit at Sekgoma Hospital, who shared valuable information on healthy living, including the importance of good nutrition and making healthier lifestyle choices.

Beyond the learning and physical activities, the caregivers had a wonderful time connecting, relaxing and creating space to debrief and reflect.

The wellness day was a timely reminder that caring for children starts with caring for the caregivers themselves. When caregivers are healthy, supported and emotionally well, they are better equipped to provide safe, nurturing and protective environments for children.

You are invited to the SOS Children's Village, Francistown 2nd Edition Fundraising Culture Day in celebration of 40 years of care!

We have re-scheduled our day to Saturday 5th September 2026 at the SOS Grounds.

Entrance fee is P10 for children under 12 and P20 adults.

Get ready for a mouth watering setswana cuisine (Bogobe jwa lerotse, seswaa, koko ya setswana. morogo wa setswana, mokoto beef stew and many more) for only P30 a plate.

Look out for entertainment by our local traditional groups and fun games such as koi, morabaraba, ulu, dila and setswana debate.

As we marked the SOS Childrenโ€™s Villages 40th Anniversary Charity Football Tournament this past Saturday, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who came out to support, participate and make the tournament a success.
