How do we deal with crime, gangs, youth unemployment, low literacy, innovation and a stagnant economy?
Here's how;
First, reinstate the "Civic" lessons in schools with the aim being to educate children on citizenship and equip them with knowledge about how government works and how to be a responsible, contributing citizen.
Second, introduce a one year national service for all 16 and 17 years olds, so they go straight into the armed forces or Coast Guard from High School. Here they will learn discipline, self reliance, respect for authority and a trade with life skills to enable them to go into the workforce instead of gangs.
At the same time, the government must actively seek out, encourage and motivate entrepreneurs, businesses and investors to establish real manufacturing and commercial industry, in special economic industrial zones across the country. These will provide long-term employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
Next, massive investment in sports facilities across schools, colleges and communities to promote healthy exercise, improve physical and mental wellbeing, and provide for sportsmen and women to pursue sports professionally.
Lastly, reduce the voting age to 16.
