The National Fire Service has been protecting life and property from fires and explosive hazards since its inception in 1846 when it was called the Fire Brigade. In the early days it was the Bucket Brigade, the Horse Drawn Unit, then the Steam Engine Unit, after which came the famous La France Fire Engines, then came the Dennis fleet of vehicles, the Leyland, Bedford, Chubb Carmichaels and now some of the most modern set of firefighting trucks one can think about in this time, the KME International and the ladder truck.

Mission: The Belize National Fire Service shall create a safer Belize from fires and explosive hazards for its people through public education and highly trained personnel working in cooperation with other relevant agencies and organizations.
