The Department of Youth, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is advancing the Girls in ICT Course in Belmopan and Belize City. Delivered by Pixel Pro Media under UNDP’s “Strengthening Youth Governance and Institutional Resilience for Peacebuilding in Belize” project, the programme targets 30 young women aged 14 to 21. It offers practical training in digital literacy, graphic design, artificial intelligence, website publishing, digital research, online safety, and presentation skills to expand access to STEM opportunities and prepare participants for Belize’s digital economy.

Participants receive guided instruction, hands-on exercises, mentorship, and technical resources to create market-relevant outputs such as graphic design assets and digital portfolio websites. The course emphasizes responsible technology use, creativity, innovation, and the confidence needed for further education, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Lead instructor Gabriel Casey of Pixel Pro Media noted that the programme helps young women gain both technical skills and the independence to build and grow their own businesses. The initiative reaffirms the Department of Youth and UNDP’s shared commitment to inclusive opportunities that empower youth, strengthen digital capacity, and support sustainable development, resilience, and peacebuilding in Belize.
