Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations, the Board of Directors, Management, and staff of the Belize Tourism Board, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our dear colleague, Ms. Angelique Haseley, Director of Administration, Human Resources, and IT.

We mourn the loss of a dedicated and cherished member of the BTB family. Her kindness, leadership, and years of devoted service left a lasting mark on the organization. We will continue to cherish the many beautiful memories we shared with her and the difference she made in the lives of those around her.

Diaspora Relations Unit in Evanston, Chicago

The Diaspora Relations Unit (DRU), within the Ministry of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations, is pleased to participate in the Mobile Consular and Land Clinics being held in Evanston, Chicago, from August 7–9, 2026.

Mrs. Sandhya Murphy, Ambassador for Diaspora Relations, and Ms. Sandra Mahler, Senior Liaison Officer, are engaging with members of the Belizean diaspora and providing information on the Government of Belize's diaspora initiatives, programs, and services.

The Diaspora Relations Unit warmly encourages members of the Belizean diaspora to take advantage of this opportunity to access vital government services, receive important information, and connect directly with government representatives.

🇧🇿 Belize represented at the 12th Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting in Glasgow

Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations, and Hon. Devin Daly, Minister of State for Youth and Sports, participated in the 12th Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

They were joined by Belize’s delegation comprising CEO Nicole Usher Solano, H.E. Cherie Nisbet, Belize High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and Allan Sharp, President of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association.

The all-day ministerial meeting brought together sports ministers, senior government officials and Commonwealth Games leaders from across the Commonwealth under the theme “Reimagining the Power of Sport towards Healthier, Fairer and Equitable Commonwealth Communities.”

Discussions focused on strengthening international cooperation, promoting integrity and inclusion in sport, advancing athlete safeguarding, and leveraging sport as a catalyst for health, youth development and sustainable growth. The meeting also adopted a joint outcome statement to help shape Commonwealth priorities ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) later this year.

Belize is represented at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games by five athletes competing in Swimming, Cycling and Athletics.

We wish Team Belize every success as they proudly represent our nation in the Commonwealth Games from July 23-August 2. 🇧🇿

The Diaspora Relations Unit (DRU) at the Belize Diaspora Summit: Day One Highlights

Day One of the Belize Diaspora Summit successfully brought together Belizeans from across the diaspora, government representatives, and key stakeholders for a day of meaningful dialogue and collaboration. The Diaspora Relations Unit played a central role in welcoming participants, facilitating engagements, and showcasing its ongoing initiatives to strengthen connections between Belize and its diaspora.

Mrs. Sandhya Murphy, Ambassador for Diaspora Relations, contributed as a panelist, sharing insights on policy engagement and strategies to mobilize diaspora resources. Through insightful panel discussions on diaspora nation-building, digital transformation, regional engagement, and youth empowerment, those in attendance exchanged ideas and explored opportunities to foster stronger partnerships that will contribute to Belize’s growth and development.
