Belize Bureau of Standards

Belize Bureau of Standards The Belize Bureau of Standards is responsible for Standardization, Metrology, Consumer Protection.

From its inception in 1992, the Belize Bureau of Standards despite institutional challenges, has evolved into an organization leading the national effort to improve the production of goods and services through the effective use and implementation of standards. Complementary to this effort has been the active participation in international and regional capacity building initiatives which have gradually provided the Bureau with the nurturing of essential skills in Standards Development, Metrology and Consumer Protection. The Bureau is now on the verge of positioning itself as the lead institution in the development of a National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) with key responsibility in updating the legislative framework and conceptualizing the physical and human resources needed to carry out its mandate. Its resolve renewed, the Bureau is on course to positively impact and contribute to a modernized approach to national development with standards and quality deeply rooted in this effort.
