Tonight a bee swarm will be removed from the Nazarene Extension. Neighbors around the Howard Smith Primary School are asked to take note and caution while bee keepers conduct the bee removal exercise.

This is being done given that its close to our children who attended Howard Smith Nazarene Primary School and for the safety of the general public.

The Benque Viejo Town Council wants to thank everyone who made it out to the Mother’s Day River Party held at Playa Rancho Doña Julia. We also thank the small businesses that participated, as well as the winners of the 5-a-side tournament: Los Chacaras in first place, Los Sixitos in second place and Los Phantoms in third place.

The Benque Viejo Town Council wishes all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day. We thank all the mothers who participated in the Mother’s Day celebrations at Cancha Marshalleck on May 9, 2026. For those who were unable to attend, we hope you can join us next year, God willing. We also want to thank our small market vendors who participated in the Mother’s Day celebration pop-up market. We want to thank our staff, who worked diligently to make this event welcoming for all our mothers on their special day.
Lastly, we want to thank all our sponsors; without their support, we would not have been able to make this event a huge success.

Road works in Hills of Promise have started. A dozer is currently clearing and leveling some streets that the town council’s grader cannot access. These streets will be resurfaced and raised in certain areas before the finishing gravel coat is added later.

Mayor Rosales participated in the Children’s Festival of Arts in Benque Viejo del Carmen Town held under the theme: Celebrating creativity, culture & community. At the Benque Viejo Town Council, we believe that arts are essential to a well-rounded education from an early age. As a town deeply rooted in culture, Benque Viejo del Carmen proudly carries forward its rich traditions of our ancestors. Yet culture is not something we simply inherit—it is something we must actively keep alive through events like this one.

The Mother's Day Celebration continues with our river beach party at Rancho Doña Julia old border road. Sunday May 10, 2026, starting at 10:00 am and ending at 5:00 pm. Live music by DJ Piju and Black Raid Sounds; enjoy the 5-a-side football tournament. Come out and enjoy with the family.

🌱 ¡Programa de Compostaje Doméstico en Benque Viejo!

Financiado por Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), el Programa de Reciclaje de Residuos Orgánicos, junto con la Autoridad de Gestión de Residuos Sólidos de Belice (BSWaMA) y el Ayuntamiento de Benque Viejo, invita a los residentes a participar.

En 2024, el Programa de Reciclaje de Residuos Orgánicos lanzó su programa piloto en Belmopan, Corozal, San Ignacio, Santa Elena y San Pedro, recibiendo una respuesta abrumadora e inspiradora de las comunidades. Aprovechando este impulso y gracias a la financiación adicional de ECCC, el programa se está expandiendo para llegar a más hogares.

Benque Viejo fue seleccionado para unirse a esta emocionante nueva fase, en reconocimiento al firme compromiso y los continuos esfuerzos del Ayuntamiento de Benque Viejo para mejorar la gestión de residuos orgánicos. Esta expansión representa un paso importante hacia un futuro más sostenible, al reducir las emisiones de metano, desviar los residuos del vertedero y capacitar a los hogares para transformar los residuos orgánicos en valioso compost 🌱

Home Composting Program in Benque Viejo!

Funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Recycle Organics Program, together with the Belize Solid Waste Management Authority (BSWaMA) and the Benque Viejo Town Council invites residents to join!

In 2024, Recycle Organics launched its pilot program in Belmopan, Corozal, San Ignacio and Santa Elena, and San Pedro, receiving an overwhelming and inspiring response from communities. Building on this momentum, and thanks to additional funding from ECCC, the program is now expanding to reach even more households.
Benque Viejo was selected to join this exciting next phase, recognizing the strong commitment and ongoing efforts of the Benque Viejo Town Council to improve organic waste management. This expansion marks another important step toward a more sustainable future by reducing methane emissions, diverting waste from the landfill, and empowering households to transform organic waste into valuable compost 🌱

Junta mensual de la municipalidad de Benque Viejo. Mientras unos dicen otra cosa, mantener una buena comunicación con nuestros trabajadores es clave, algo que el señor Jorge Antonio Rosales siempre tiene en mente. Si nuestros trabajadores no saben hacia dónde vamos ni hacia dónde queremos llegar con el desarrollo de nuestro bello Benque Viejo, sería imposible el cambio y el progreso que ya hemos logrado. Mientras unos tratan de distraer el enfoque y detener el desarrollo, esta administración y el señor Jorge Antonio Rosales trabajan junto a sus trabajadores en impulsar el progreso de nuestro pueblo, realizando los trabajos de la mejor manera posible con los pocos recursos que tenemos; pero juntos y sin perder el enfoque, logramos mucho más.

Una meta, un pueblo unido, por el desarrollo de Benque Viejo. Algo que no se puede detener y hay quienes están en contra del progreso. Tuvieron el tiempo suficiente durante 21 años, pues el señor se enfocó en desarrollar el pueblo con una meta, que el pueblo de Benque Viejo del Carmen sea la diferencia con el resto de los municipios. Con esto se les notifica que nuestro pueblo de Benque Viejo del Carmen ha sido calificado como número uno en lo que es administración financiera, al mismo tiempo con los deberes del pueblo bajo las reglas de lo que es el gobierno local. Gracias a usted, pueblo de Benque Viejo del Carmen, esto se ha logrado en el paso de 5 años.
