Celebrating Growth at Casa Bethel Family

Today we'd like to share an update from Casa Bethel, a children's home in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, where nine boys and girls receive full-time care.

Over the past several weeks, Casa Bethel has been filled with excitement as the children celebrated the end of the school year and enjoyed a busy summer schedule. From camps, birthday celebrations, and graduations to outings and other special events, it has been a season full of joy and memorable moments.

We would like to congratulate Alejandra on her 9th-grade graduation, as well as all of her Bethel family who successfully completed the school year and are moving on to the next grade.

We are especially grateful to God for the lives and faithful service of Moisés and Tere Soto, who lovingly care for these young people around the clock. Through their unwavering dedication, they nurture, mentor, and guide each child in the ways of the Lord, helping them discover their God-given purpose, encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and equipping them to become positive influences in their communities.

We look forward to seeing all that God will continue to accomplish through your faithful ministry.

Congratulations to Casa Ammi on all of the academic accomplishments achieved during this school year! We celebrate and congratulate the students who graduated from elementary school and middle school, and we are so proud of their dedication and perseverance.

We also want to recognize the teachers, caregivers, donors, sponsors, cooks, and directors who each play an important role in helping Casa Ammi continue moving forward, growing, and reaching new goals. It truly takes a community working together to create genuine and lasting change in the lives of these young people.

Today, we also want to share an exciting update about the sourdough bread project that the young people at Casa Ammi started three years ago. What began as a small initiative has grown tremendously! Casa Ammi now has a rented space where the youth prepare, bake, package, and distribute dozens of loaves of bread each week. Their creations include whole grain sourdough bread, cranberry bread, and many other delicious varieties. What a blessing it is to see these young people developing new skills and growing in different areas through this bakery project. Not only is it becoming a source of economic blessing for the ministry, but it is also providing valuable opportunities for the young people involved to learn, contribute, and build confidence.

We can't wait to visit soon and enjoy some of their delicious bread!

Making good progress!

We give thanks for God’s provision in the construction at the Casa Ammi El Gallo children’s home location. A local Christian contractor generously donated the use of his excavator to dig the septic tank, which took eight days to complete because the ground was so hard!

Two Mexican construction workers are currently working full time on the building. Davin Post and Duane Visscher have also been helping Lalo, the general director, oversee the project a few days each week. Davin plans to begin serving full time with this ministry at the end of July.

At the end of the year, teams will be staying on site and helping complete the project. They will be housed in the first floor of the building that is currently being finished.

God is good!

Day of the Child

April 30 may seem like any other day in Canada, but not in Mexico! This is the day Mexico celebrates children and what a special event it is! Children receive gifts, goodie bags, and a hot meal is provided. Many local companies, schools, and universities take part in these celebrations. It is also an important day when children’s ministries receive much needed donations of food, clothing, and other essentials. Thank you Lord for your amazing provision?

Luke 18:16–17:

“Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’”

The Children of Hope Society board gives thanks for the incredible journey we experienced from April 10 to 25 as we visited all eight of our children’s ministries. We concluded our tour in the Guadalajara area, where we visited the Brazos de Amistad community centre.

With all board members present, we also held our Annual General Meeting. Over two days, we reviewed and reflected on everything we had learned during this trip.

There is much ahead of us, and we trust that God will faithfully guide our next steps. Keep the Children of Hope Society board and ministry staff in your prayers!

REMINDER to submit logo designs by April 13: Children of Hope Society – 20th Anniversary Logo Design Contest

In 2026, the Children of Hope Society (COHS) will celebrate 20 years of ministry serving vulnerable children in Mexico. Over the past two decades, God has faithfully used this work to provide care, spiritual instruction, education, and practical support to many children through our five Children’s Homes and three Community Centres across Mexico.

As part of this milestone, we are inviting members of our community and those with creative gifts to participate in a logo design contest. The goal is to develop a refreshed logo that reflects the mission and heart of Children of Hope Society as we continue serving children in the years ahead.

Logo Design Submissions

We invite designers and creative individuals to submit an original logo concept for Children of Hope Society. The design should be clear, meaningful, and adaptable for use on our website, social media, printed materials, and ministry communications.

Submission Deadline

April 13, 2026

Our Annual General Meeting will take place at the end of April, where the submissions will be reviewed. The winning logo will be announced in May 2026.

The selected designer will receive a prize, and the design will become the official logo of Children of Hope Society.

How to Submit

Please send your design to:

[email protected]

If possible, include:

• Your logo design (submitted in various file types such as PNG, JPG, PDF, or vector formats such as AI, EPS, or SVG)

We would appreciate you sharing this opportunity with anyone who may be interested in contributing their creativity to the work of Children of Hope Society as we celebrate 20 years of ministry and look ahead to the future God has in store for us.

It has been an eventful weekend in Mexico, and not the kind we would hope for. While it is not entirely surprising that the cartel has responded in this way, similar situations have occurred in other regions of Mexico in the past.

We are thankful that none of our eight partner ministries have been harmed in any way. They are following the authorities’ directive to “shelter in place.” This is a very fluid situation, and Children of Hope Society is closely monitoring how events continue to unfold.

Please pray for Mexico, for its leaders, and for the armed forces as they respond to this situation.

We give thanks for our two board members in Ontario, Bill Opthof and Janelle Van Halteren, who have been participating in local job fairs and charity publicity events at Redeemer University, Heritage College, and Tyndale University. As Children of Hope Society continues to seek additional field staff to serve in Mexico, this kind of visibility is invaluable in helping raise awareness and keep our ministry on people’s minds. Thank you for your service!
