30 years. 25 years. Countless lives impacted.

This week we had the privilege of recognizing two outstanding members for their incredible dedication to Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue.

👏 Congratulations to T.L.W. on 30 years of service.
👏 Congratulations to Lee H. on 25 years of service.

Between them, that's 55 years of volunteer service spent answering the call. Day or night, in all weather, and often at a moment's notice. Their commitment, leadership, and willingness to serve have helped shape our team and made a lasting impact on both our members and the communities we serve.

Thank you both for your unwavering dedication, mentorship, and countless hours spent helping others. Your service is an inspiration to us all.

🚨 We're Recruiting New Volunteers! 🚨

Have you ever wanted to challenge yourself, learn valuable outdoor and rescue skills, and make a difference in your community?

Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue is looking for dedicated individuals who are ready to answer the call when someone needs help most. Our members come from all walks of life, but they share a common commitment to teamwork, service, and helping others in their time of need.

📅 Recruitment Events
🔹 July 7 – Open House (7:00 PM)
🔹 July 25 – Recruitment Day Hike
🔹 August 22–23 – Recruitment Overnight Hike

✅ Minimum Requirements • 19 years of age or older
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
• 5-year Driver's Abstract
• Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Ability to commit to a minimum 3-year term
• Valid First Aid certification (obtained by September 2026 and valid through 2027)

Whether you're an experienced outdoor enthusiast or simply looking for a meaningful way to give back, we encourage you to come learn more about what it takes to become a SAR volunteer.

It's been a busy few weeks for our team.This afternoon, members of our Swiftwater and Rope Rescue teams were tasked to assist after a vehicle was discovered in a water-filled ditch in Langley.

Our members responded quickly to assess the scene and help ensure the area was safe. Thankfully, it was confirmed there were no occupants inside the vehicle.

Calls like these are a reminder that conditions can change quickly, and we’re always ready to respond when needed.
Thank you to all responding agencies for working together to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

🚨 Double Call-Out Night! 🚨

​Right after our regular Tuesday evening training on May 12th, our team was diverted to Aldergrove for a missing person search. The subject was successfully located around 1:00 AM.

​After a quick 3-hour break, we were activated again at 4:00 AM for another missing person in Abbotsford. We are incredibly relieved to report that this subject was also safely located!

​A massive shoutout to our dedicated volunteers who pushed through a sleepless night to bring two people home safely. Time for some well-deserved rest!

✔️ Check weather, terrain, and local conditions
✔️ Carry essential gear and extra supplies
✔️ Be prepared for limited or no cell service
✔️ Know your location and understand rescue response times may vary

A little preparation can make a huge difference and helps ensure everyone gets home safely.
