💡 Brighter spaces, lower energy use, long-term savings.
The City of Airdrie has completed an energy-efficient lighting retrofit at Genesis Place, replacing 787 lighting fixtures with high-efficiency LED lighting and advanced controls.
The upgrade is expected to:
✅ Reduce electricity use by approximately 183,810 kWh each year
✅ Prevent an estimated 925 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over the life of the project
✅ Lower operating costs while improving lighting quality throughout the facility
Thank you to the Government of Alberta and the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre for helping support this project.

Beginning Nov. 4, the City of Airdrie will implement Level 4 water restrictions for approximately four weeks while Calgary completes the tie-in of the new Bearspaw South Feeder Main to the regional water system.

What level four means:
▶️ No outdoor water use
▶️ Indoor water restrictions are in effect in accordance with Schedule E of the City's Waterworks Bylaw
▶️ Pools and arenas remain open

Outdoor water restrictions may not seem relevant right now as the weather cools down. However, reducing our water use is still important. By doing our part, we're helping support our regional partners and ensuring there's enough water available for essential services, including emergency response needs.

How you can help:
▶️ Keep showers under three minutes
▶️ Flush only when needed
▶️ Run only full loads of laundry and dishes
▶️ Fix leaks and dripping taps

Thank you for helping reduce water use. Learn more ways you can save water at airdrie.ca/waterconservation

At today's regular Council meeting, Council received a quarterly update on the SW Recreation Centre project. This quarter's update includes new renderings of the future facility and an overview of current design work. Here's a quick look at where the project stands:

🟣The SW Recreation Centre will be built in a single phase, with all amenities opening together in 2030.
🔵As part of decisions in schematic design, the facility will feature a public indoor running track that can be accessed without paying a facility admission fee, providing an indoor space for residents to walk run or wheel year-round at no cost.
🟡The SW Recreation Centre project is in the detailed design phase, where approved concepts are being refined into detailed plans and technical specifications to guide future construction. This stage focuses on the details that bring the facility to life, from room layouts and storage areas to lighting, accessibility features and even the placement of electrical outlets.
🟢The project is currently in the ‘Class C’ estimate phase. During this phase, costs become more accurate as design work progresses and additional project details are confirmed. Budget estimates are not publicly released during this stage, as the City is preparing for future procurement activities and wants to help ensure a competitive bidding process that delivers the best value for taxpayers.

As the project continues, regular quarterly updates will be shared with both Council and the community. Read this quarter's full update, access Council reports and presentations, view the latest renderings and learn what's coming next at airdrie.ca/swrecreation-updates.

🌳 Help protect Airdrie's urban forest.
City-owned trees are maintained by certified arborists to keep them healthy, safe and resilient. Unauthorized pruning or cutting can damage trees, increase the spread of disease and affect long-term tree health.

Under Parks Bylaw No. B-13/2009, no person may remove, move, prune, cut, debark or otherwise damage a City tree without authorization from the City.

See unauthorized tree pruning, damage or trees that need pruning? Report it to 311.
