We are thrilled to announce that Krista MacNeil has been appointed the new Executive Director of Durham Youth Services (DYS)! 🎉

Krista brings 23 years of experience in community leadership, equity, survivor-centered practices and systems change across healthcare, mental health, child protection, education and community services.

Most recently, as Executive Director of Victim Services of Durham Region, Krista led innovative programs supporting children, youth, survivors and vulnerable community members, including the development of Durham’s Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.

We are excited to welcome Krista to DYS as we continue working together to ensure young people across Durham Region have access to safe shelter, stable housing and the supports they need to thrive.

On July 30, Canada marks World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, raising awareness about human trafficking and the need to protect and support survivors.

At Durham Youth Services, we recognize that youth experiencing homelessness are at greater risk of exploitation. By providing safe shelter, trusted support, and pathways to stability, we help reduce that risk and empower young people to build brighter futures.

Together, we can raise awareness, prevent exploitation, and help keep our communities safe.
