Sometimes the barrier isn't a lack of skills. It's whether those skills are being recognized.

71% of employers not hiring people who have a disability cited a lack of awareness of their skills.

That's an important reminder for all of us: start with the person. Look at their abilities, interests, experience and potential.

Inclusive employment begins when we see talent first.

Today Canada is lighting up purple and blue for National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

Light It Up! For NDEAM™ shines a light on the importance of disability-inclusive employment and the skills, talents and contributions people who have a disability bring to workplaces across Canada.

At CLASS, we believe opportunity matters — and that everyone should have the chance to contribute, build skills and pursue meaningful employment.
Let's keep opening doors.

Employers are looking for talent.

63% of employers identify skills gaps as the biggest barrier to business transformation between 2025 and 2030.

At the same time, skilled people with disabilities continue to face barriers to employment.

What if part of addressing the skills gap is expanding where — and how — we look for talent?

Inclusive hiring can open doors for people and help employers discover skills they may otherwise overlook.

World Mental Health Day – October 10

Today, CLASS joins communities around the world in recognizing World Mental Health Day.

This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” reminds us that listening is important — but truly valuing someone’s voice means including them in the conversations and decisions that affect their lives. World Health Organization

At CLASS, we believe everyone deserves to be heard, respected and valued. Creating space for people to share what matters to them, make choices, build meaningful connections and participate fully in their communities is an important part of fostering well-being and belonging.

Today is also a reminder to check in with ourselves and with one another. Sometimes a conversation, a connection or simply knowing someone is there can make a difference.

Let’s continue building communities where every voice matters. 💚
