Your tickets for our Fall 2026 Series Tickets are ready for you!

The days are getting shorter and cooler. The leaves are turning colour. The kids are back to school. This could make us sad, or we could get busy booking interesting and fun things to do!

Come join us upstairs at the Almonte Legion on the third Sunday of the month at 2 p.m. You’ll be in a room full of delightful fellow movie lovers and help us raise money for our local libraries. Tickets are only $15, or $42 for the series subscription.

Sound like fun? We think so.

Our first movie is "The Marching Band"

This highly acclaimed movie tells the story of a world-famous orchestra conductor who discovers the brother he never knew he had — a school cafeteria worker who plays trombone in a marching band. The men were adopted by two different families at birth and grew up in diverse environments. Thibaut (Benjamin Lavernhe) who lives in a posh Parisian suburb, discovers he has a serious health issue, which is what leads him to find Jimmy (Pierre Lottin) who lives in a working-class town. They discover, amongst other things, that music is an important aspect of both of their lives. According to the Irish Film Institute, “The Marching Band is a warm, funny, and socially conscious crowd-pleaser.”

Here is our Fall lineup

The Marching Band (France 2024) English subtitles

Correction: Club Franco returns September 23!

📍Almonte Branch, Wednesdays @ 10:30am

This French conversation club is a great opportunity to meet others, practice regularly, and stay engaged in the French language. This is NOT a French class, but a space to practice French through simple conversations and group interactions. There’s a club facilitator, but periodically other individuals take a turn facilitating.

Some knowledge of French is needed to participate. Drop-in and join the conversation!

🎨 Something new is happening at the library!

We’re giving the Almonte branch’s Meeting Room and Children’s Areas a fresh new look!

This means the Almonte branch will be closed on Sunday, August 30 while we paint.

The Children’s Section will also be closed from Saturday, August 29 to Monday, August 31 while we paint and put the shelves back in place. Picture books will still be available for checkout, but patrons will be unable to browse the other collections in that area or have holds retrieved during the closure.

And coming in October… NEW SHELVING + SLAT WALLS! 🎉

We’re excited to make these spaces more welcoming, playful and functional for everyone who uses them.

Now for the important question…

🎨 What colours do you think we’re painting?

Drop your guesses in the comments! 👇
