If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, the Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival is in full swing! 🧵

The Town of Amherst has been proud to support this festival for many years. Each year, it brings artists and visitors to our community, fills our local spaces with creativity, and gives people a chance to experience all that Amherst has to offer.

From quilting and rug hooking shows to hands-on workshops, local vendors and a special house tour, there’s still lots to see and do around town!

Today, the Cumberland Quilters Guild were busy setting up for their Annual Quilt Show, featuring beautiful handmade quilts, two raffle quilts and a selection of charity quilts!

This evening, Mayor Small was proud to unveil the new official Amherst tartan during the opening celebration of the 17th Annual Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival! 🧵

Inspired by the colours and character of our community, the tartan celebrates Amherst’s unique identity and the place we call home.

A special thank you to the festival organizers for giving us the opportunity to share this special moment, and to everyone who joined us for this exciting moment!

If you are interested in owning a piece of Amherst’s tartan, Maritime Tartan Company is now accepting pre-orders for a variety of products.

The Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival runs October 13–17, with workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations and special events happening throughout Amherst.
